USSSA Pride Sign Tonya Callahan
Dec 3rd, 2009
The USSSA Florida Pride, a member of the Women’s National Professional Fastpitch League [NPF], is proud to announce the recent signing of Tonya Callahan of Holden, Missouri and the University of Tennessee for the 2010 season. This is a historic moment in USSSA history as Tonya is the first Pride player that actively played in the USSSA Youth Fastpitch Program. In 2004 Tonya played with the KC Peppers, who won the 18 & Under “A” World Series and was named to the USSSA All World Series Team. Her hard work and dedication enabled Tonya to play at the University of Tennessee for four years. Tonya has also crossed international borders as a Fastpitch player by traveling to Italy and playing at the professional level overseas. Callahan will be reunited in 2010 with former college teammates Monica Abbott and Shannon Doepking who also star for the USSSA Florida Pride. Tonya completed her career at Tennessee as the school record-holder for total home runs, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, RBIs, total bases and walks. During her senior year in 2008, she also set the UT single-season home run record with 16 HR’s.
