June 9th West Texas Dual on the Diamond

US Olympic Team Players in Lubbock for:
“West Texas Duel on the Diamond” National Pro Fastpitch Series

LUBBOCK, Texas (June 8, 2010) – The “West Texas Duel on the Diamond” National Pro Fastpitch Series will be held June 9th-13th at the Rocky Johnson Field on the Texas Tech University Campus. Hosted by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), the series includes two professional Fastpitch Softball teams: the USSSA Florida Pride and the Chicago Bandits. The June 12th game between the Pride and Bandits will be aired live on ESPN2 at 8:05 PM EST.

Playing in the series will be several former Olympians, and current members of Team USA (denoted by an asterisk):

USSSA Pride:

Kelly Kretschman – Olympic Gold 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Cat Osterman – Olympic Gold 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Caitlin Lowe* – Olympic Gold 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Jessica Mendoza* – Olympic Gold 2000 and 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Lauren Lappin* – Olympic Silver 2008

Natasha Watley* – Olympic Gold 2000 and 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Chicago Bandits:

Jennie Finch* – Olympic Gold 2000 and 2004, Olympic Silver 2008

Vicky Galindo – Olympic Silver 2008

Katie Burkhart is also a current member of the USSSA Florida Pride team. In 2008, she helped lead her team at Arizona State University to victory in the Women’s College World Series (WCWS). She was also named WCWS Most Valuable Player that year.

In addition, the Chicago Bandits have won back-to-back regular season titles in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) in 2008 and 2009. The team also won the Championship Series in 2008.

The “West Texas Duel on the Diamond” National Pro Fastpitch Series will provide skill and entertainment for all ages while bringing a whole new ball game to Lubbock.
