Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week (3/26)

“LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana’s Christi Orgeron was named the Sun Belt Conference Softball Player of the Week after smashing the conference and UL career RBI record last week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

 

“The honor is the third of the season for Orgeron and the seventh for the Ragin’ Cajuns squad that is off to an incredible 30-1 start.

 

“Orgeron was 6-for-14 (.429) on the week, hitting two home runs, driving in 10 and scoring seven runs. The senior passed Danyele Gomez to become the Cajuns and the SBC all-time RBI leader as she blasted her third grand slam of the year in the nightcap against Georgia Tech on Thursday.

 

“….Orgeron currently leads the NCAA in RBI with 60, after topping the nation with 101 last season. She also became the Sun Belt’s all-time doubles leader earlier in the year and currently has 61 career doubles to date.”
