NPF - USSSA Pride at NY-NJ Comets
Sarah Pauly Struck Out 10 in tonights game

Kissimmee, FL – August 8, 2013 – The USSSA Pride recorded their 29th win of the season with a 4-2 victory over the NY/NJ Comets at Osceola County Stadium Thursday night in game one of the four-game series, their final home series of the season.

Pride pitcher Sarah Pauly shined against NY/NJ’s Angel Bunner, allowing only five hits and dishing out ten strikeouts in seven complete innings.

The Comets struck first with a solo homerun to left center from Brittney Lindley in the fourth inning, but it didn’t take the Pride long to fire back; Kristyn Sandberg and Ashley Charters scored on a double from Caitlin Lowe, who went 3-4 with three RBIs, in the bottom half of the inning, which was immediately followed by Natasha Watley scoring on a pass ball, giving the Pride a 3-1 lead.

Lindley (2-2) scored on a double to center field from Courtney Liddle in the sixth inning, bringing the Comets back within one run, but a double from Lowe in the same inning scored Jenn Salling, which would be the final run of the ballgame, giving the Pride a 4-2 win.

Bunner pitched six full innings, allowing seven walks and four runs on seven hits, though she struck out four Pride hitters.

Along with Lowe, it was a big night at the plate for USSSA’s Francesca Enea as well, going 2-3.

Thursday night’s win puts the Pride just one game behind the first place Chicago Bandits in the NPF standings.

The USSSA Pride (29-12) and NY/NJ Comets (8-33) meet again for game two of the series Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Don’t miss exclusive coverage on USSSAlive.com.
