Pride Win Home Opener with a 2-0 Victory

VIERA, FL. (June 18, 2019) The Pride are back home for their first home series of the 2019 season, against the Aussie Peppers.

The USSSA Pride secured their first home win at the Space Coast Stadium with a 2-0 victory over the Aussie Peppers in the first game of the series.

Both teams were scoreless through the 4th-inning. The Pride had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 4th unable to score with a fly ball caught by the Pepper’s left fielder.

The top of the 5th inning went by quick with two grounders hit to first, and a running catch in foul territory made by the Nicole Pendley.

The Pride broke the scoreless innings putting up the first run on the board in the bottom of the 5th.

With Amanda Lorenz on 3rd and Megan Wiggins on 1st, a past ball with Jessica Warren up to bat scored Lorenz and advanced Wiggins to second base.

A lead of triple by the Aussie Peppers was no match for the Pride ending the top of the 6th 1-0, Pride in the lead.

The Pride added to their 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 6th- inning. Chelsea Goodacre with a lead off double, Bianka Bell pinch ran for Goodacre and advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch, then scored on Pendley’s suicde squeeze.

The score was 2-0 heading to the top of the 7th-inning.

The Pride started off their home opener of a 5 game series with a 2-0 win over the Aussie Peppers.

In the circle and getting the win for the 7-inning appearance was Jolene Henderson. Henderson through a shut-out, getting her second win on the season, and adding six more strikeouts to her total.

 The Park Planet Player of the game was Jolene Henderson for her shutting down the Peppers and only allowed three hits on seven innings pitched.

Wednesday June 19th, the Pride take on the Aussie Peppers for game two of the series at 7:05 P.M. ET at the USSSA Space Coast Stadium.
