Series Preview: Pride vs. Rebellion in Washington, PA

Kissimmee, FL – For the third time this season, the USSSA Pride will see the Pennsylvania Rebellion in a four-game set at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington, PA Friday, July 10th through Sunday July 12th. On Saturday July 11th, the Pride and Rebellion are set to play a double header starting at 5:05pm (ET) due to a rescheduled contest during their first series together on June 27th. First pitch is set for 7:05pm (ET) on Friday, 5:05pm (ET) and 7:05pm (ET) on Saturday, and 2:35pm (ET) on Sunday.

The Pride left Akron, OH 15-7 after winning the series against the Akron Racers 3-1. After losing the three-game set 0-3 against the Chicago Bandits, the Pennsylvania Rebellion head to Washington, PA 5-19 on the season.

The last time the two teams saw eachother, the Pride swept the two-game series at the Lucas County Rec Center in Maumee, OH 4-0 and 5-2.

Pride Players to Watch:

Kelly Kretschman – After the previous four-game set with the Akron Racers, Kretschman now leads the league and team with a .400 batting average. Heading into the series with the Rebellion, she currently is 30-75 with 5 HR’s and 13 RBI.

Madison Shipman – absolutely dominated the final game of the series against the Akron Racers going 2-4 with a HR a double and 4 RBI. On the seasons, Shipman has 2 doubles, 1 HR and 6 RBI.

Jordan Taylor – has been unstoppable in her closing appearances. She has a league leading 0.38 ERA through her 2-1 record and 6 saves. She enters the series with 24 K’s in 18.1 innings pitched.

 

Rebellion Players to Watch:

Team Fielding – The Rebellion defense is currently 2nd in the league with a .971 fielding percentage and 521 put outs.

Haylie Wagner – is ranked 4th in the league and 1st on the Rebellion pitching roster with a 1.43 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched.

Alisa Goler – leads the Rebellion with 14 hits, 8 RBI and 3 HR. In game two of the previous series with the Pride, Goler went 1-3 with 1 HR and 2 RBI.

 

Fun Facts:

–       This series features the second of three double headers this season. The Pride split their first double header with the Akron Racers losing the first game 5-4 and winning the second 5-1.

–       The Rebellion roster features six International players: Virginie Anneveld and Dagmar Bloeming from the Netherlands, Lara Andrews from New Zealand, Haruna Sakamoto and Yuri Masuyama from Japan and Victoria Hayward from Canada.

–       Rebellion’s Haruna Sakamoto was a former Pride player who signed prior to the start of the 2013 season. In the same year, she and the Pride were crowned the 2013 NPF Champions.
