The PA Rebellion Fall 8-0 to the USSSA Pride

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWashington, PA –June 8, 2014- The Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by The Coury Financial Group, closed out their inaugural season home stand with an 8-0 loss to the USSSA Pride at CONSOL Energy Park Sunday.

Cat Osterman proved once again to be a workhorse in the circle, picking up her third win for USSSA.  The former NPF Pitcher of the Year allowed four hits, fanned five and tossed four shutout innings.

Anna Miller got her second start for Pennsylvania, earning the loss on the night.  Miller threw one complete inning, giving up four runs on six hits. Dallas Escobedo made her first appearance for the Rebellion since her start Friday night.  The righty allowed three hits, two runs and struck out five in her five innings of relief.

USSSA was fast to support Osterman’s campaign, scoring two runs in their first at bat. After a leadoff single from Brejae Washington, Miller forced two pop outs before putting two more runners on.  With bases loaded, Madison Shipman placed a groundball up the middle to make the score 2-0.

The Pride continued to score in the latter part of the game.  After the first three batters singled to load the bases, Caitlin Lowe ripped an RBI line drive to center field to up the score 3-0 before entering Escobedo. GiOnna DiSalvatore was able to bring in one more run for USSSA for a 4-0 advantage in the second inning.

In the sixth inning, USSSA scored two more runs on a fielder’s choice to further the lead 6-0.  The Rebellion did however try to shift the momentum in the bottom half of the inning.  Shortstop Bianca Mejia, first baseman Courtney Liddle and catcher Mandy Ogle all reached base with two outs, but Pennsylvania was unable to capitalize.

On the defensive side of the ball, center fielder Ashley Carter made another sensational grab and her second statement for a web game as the native of California robbed Kristyn Sandberg of what would have been a home run.

The Pride was able to add two more insurance runs in the seventh inning to finalize the score 8-0.
