USSSA Pride to Face Texas Charge in Kansas City

Viera, FL– July 10, 2017-The USSSA Pride are heading to Kansas City for a three-game series against the Texas Charge at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The series begins tonight, July 10th, with game one set to begin at 8:05 PM (ET). First pitch for games two and three are set for 8:05 PM (ET) on July 11th and 12th. Following game two on July 11th, the Pride will be hosting their first So You Think You Can Hit Event of the season.

Fans will have the opportunity to face a professional pitcher for a small donation of $25 to C.S. Mott Pediatric Cancer unit and have a chance to put their hitting skills to the test against a few of the best pitchers in the game.

If you can’t make it out to Kansas for the first event we will be hosting three more So You Think You Can Hit Events this season. The upcoming dates and locations are as follows:

July 20th in Viera, FL

July 26th in Akron, OH

August 4th in Viera, FL

 

The Pride currently stand at the top of the league with a 20-3 record. In twenty-three games, the Pride have scored 120 runs, with 24 home runs, 110 RBI and averaged a .460 slugging percentage. The Pride pitching staff has totaled 140 strikeouts and have averaged a 1.41 ERA.

Pride Players to Watch:

  • Kelly Kretschman: Kelly currently leads the league in batting average (.500), runs (18) on-base percentage (.633) and slugging percentage (.845). She leads the Pride in hits (29), runs (18) batting average (.500), on-base percentage, slugging percentage and triples (2).
  • Sierra Romero: Romero currently leads the league in RBI (21) and is leading the Pride team in home runs (5), tied with Shelby Pendley, and leads the Pride in RBI. Romero is hitting .310, averaging a .431 on-base percentage with 18 hits, 11 runs scored and 4 doubles.
  • Kirsti Merritt: Kirsti has the second-best batting average (.327) on the team, just behind Kelly Kretschman, with 18 hits, 10 stolen bases. Merritt also has 15 runs, a .413 on-base percentage and a .418 slugging percentage.
  • Keilani Ricketts: Ricketts has struck out 38 batters and has an ERA of 1.21 with a 6-2 overall record.
