The USSSA Pride had chosen the Georgia softball team’s senior catcher as the fifth overall pick in the 2012 National Pro Fastpitch Senior Draft. She arrived at USSSA Headquarters and met with USSSA CEO Don DeDonatis and agreed to terms on a contract and signed on the dotted line.

Sandberg’s power hitting will fit right in with her NPF teammates. Sandberg was the Bulldogs triple crown winner, leading the team in home runs, RBI and batting average.

The Island Park, N.Y., native finished the season with 19 home runs, 51 RBI and hit at a .355 clip in 62 games this season. Sandberg also recorded 49 hits, including six doubles and a triple, earning her a slugging percentage of .826. The senior also had a knack for getting on base, as she drew a team-best 52 walks and was hit by a pitch 15 times during the season that helped her to an on-base percentage of .560. Sandberg was also named to the All-Southeastern Conference team and the SEC Softball Community Service team.

After forcing a game three on the final day of the Knoxville Super Regional, the No. 10 overall seed University of Georgia softball team fell 2-1 in the final game of the season to the No. 7 overall seed Tennessee Lady Volunteers, eliminating their chances at a run in the WCWS.

The USSSA Pride is very excited to have Krystyn Sandberg and are ready to get the season started.
