Viera, FL (June 24, 2021)- A pitcher’s duel tonight between the USSSA Pride and Team Canada. Jailyn Ford pitched a complete game shutout striking out 9 and allowing only 3 hits. Ford had a bounce back performance in front of over eighteen hundred fans tonight at Space Coast Stadium.
After a successful day one of the USSSA Space Coast Cup, players and their families were able to come and support their hometown team. Ford struggled early in the second inning with two walks and a hit batsman but was able to escape the inning with no runs. Canada then threatened in the top of the sixth, but Ford pitched herself out of another jam. In the top of the seventh, Alyssa Palomino-Cardozo made a highlight reel catch saving an extra base hit from getting on and extending the inning.
Jessie Warren was tonight’s other hero scoring the only run of the game hitting an opposite field homerun in the bottom of the fourth. The Pride were able to rack up four hits and four walks throughout the game but couldn’t advance any runner’s home. Warren’s homerun and great defense was all Ford needed to tie the series with Canada 1-1.
Join us tomorrow, June 25th as your USSSA Pride and Team Canada play game three of their four game series at Space Coast Stadium with first pitch at 7:05 pm. Tickets to the game can be found here. If you cannot join us at the park, come watch us on USSSALive.
