VIERA, FL. (July 25, 2018) – The USSSA Pride swept their second to last home series at the Space Coast Stadium for the 2018 season.
Delaine Gourley started in the circle for the Pride and threw four complete innings and earned the win, striking out seven of the Comet batters and allowing four hits.
Kelsey Nunley came in for two innings the game out for the Pride. Nunley struck out two and only allowed one hit.
Jolene Henderson came into close for the last inning of the game and only allowed one hit and struck out two as well.
The Pride started off the scoring in bottom of the first by a hot shot line drive down the third base line by Bianka Bell to score Allexis Bennett from third base.
To continue in the bottom of the first, Chelsea Goodacre got just enough of a pitch and sent it to shallow left field which brought in Shelby Pendley and Bianka Bell, and Nicole DeWitt drove in one more to make the score 4-0 as the team headed into the second.
In the top of the second, the Comets were able to string some hits together and score 2 runs, to bring the score to 4-2.
In the bottom of the second, Lauren Chamberlain answered back for the Pride with a two-run homerun over center field.
After a scoreless third inning, the Pride come out and score one off a double by S. Pendley to bring in Megan Wiggins.
Bottom of the fifth, Jessie Warren was subbed in to pinch hit and crushed a two-run homerun. Warren’s homerun put the Pride in the lead 9-2.
Finally, in the bottom of the sixth Chamberlain stepped up to the plate again and launched a solo homerun to straight centerfield.
Lauren Chamberlain was named the Vaultz Lock It Up Player of the Game for her two homeruns of the games, going 2-4 on the night with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored.
The final score of the game was 10-2 and the Pride improve their overall record to 36-2 on the season.
Cat Osterman was in the stands again tonight and signed autographs for fans during the fifth and sixth inning.
This concluded the series against the Comets and on Thursday July 26 the Pride take on the Chicago Bandits for the last home series of the 2018 season at the Pride Stadium at 7:05 P.M. ET at the USSSA Space Coast Complex.
