Pride shutout Team Florida 5-0 in Home Opener

Viera, FL (August 2, 2021)- The Pride started their last week of their 2021 season with over six thousand fans in the stands. They are playing Team Florida Monday thru Wednesday and then the Carolina Coastal League for their remaining home stand for a 3 game series.

This week at USSSA, our Fast Pitch All American Games held their opening ceremony with a special guest speaker Lauren Chamberlain. Chamberlain, the Oklahoma standout, played for the Pride from 2015-2017 and is now the National Director of USA- Elite Select Softball.

Monday night’s game had Odicci Alexander pitching the home opener going the distance in a lightning shortened game. Alexander pitched six innings giving up one hit and striking out 9. Alexander had a rare immaculate inning in the top of the third throwing 9 pitches striking out all 3 batters.

Pride scored early with one run in the first. Amanda Lorenz led off the inning with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch. Shay Knighten singled to center driving in Lorenz. The Pride then scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jessie Warren led the inning off with a double to center field. Alyssa Palomino-Cardozo walked, and Chelsea Goodacre doubled to right field scoring Warren. Alex Powers got her first hit at home this season singling to center field scoring Palomino-Cardoza and Goodacre. Powers ended up scoring the final run of the inning on a fielder’s choice by Shelby Pendley.
