Pride Take Away No Hitter from Bandits

VIERA, FL (June 26, 2018) The Pride won the second game of the series against the Bandits, giving them their second loss of the season. Sierra Romero saving the day and taking away a no-hitter from Richele Fico.

The USSSA Pride remains undefeated and improved their overall record to an impressive, NPF best of 15-0.

Keilani Ricketts got the start and the win in the circle, pitching a complete game. Ricketts only gave up 4 hits in her seven innings and struck out three.

The Chicago Bandits led the Pride during most of the game as they scored first in the top of the third. Richele Fico, the starting pitcher for the Bandits, kept the Pride fighting for a hit until the bottom of the sixth.

Allexis Bennett led off the bottom of the sixth with a high chopper which tipped off of the first baseman’s glove, so they scored it as an error, Megan Wiggins then drew a walk to put two baserunners on for Sierra Romero.

Romero came in clutch and launched a deep fly ball straight over centerfield to break up Fico’s no hitter and to put the Pride on board.

After scoring the USSSA squad’s defense shut the Bandits down recording two double plays after scoring and three total on the game.

Shelby Pendley, Hallie Wilson and Chelsea Goodacre all participated in the double plays for the night.

Romero recorded the only hit and RBIs on the night and she was named the Vaultz Lock It Up Player of the Game for her timely hitting. She went 1-3 with one run scored and three RBIs.

The Pride take on Chicago one more time for the last game in the series, Wednesday June 27 at 7:05 p.m. right here at the USSSA Space Coast Stadium.
