Pride Win finished 2021 season with emotional tribute to retiring Powers

Vera, FL (August 7th, 2021) The Pride ended their season with a triumphant win against the Carolina Collegiate League. The announcement of the retirement of #11 Alex Powers to the crowded stadium made for an emotional tribute at the bottom of the 2nd inning.

A teary-eyed Powers went ahead and singled in the bottom of the third to finish the final game of her Professional Career. The 5-year veteran of the Pride and FSU Alumni player came full circle, as the Brevard County native both started and ended her career here at home in Melbourne, FL.

Knighten put the Pride on the board with a three-run homer at the bottom of the first, quickly followed by Palomino-Cardoza with a 2 run RBI. The second inning was equally as impressive as the first for the Pride with Cruse scoring on an RBI by Lorenz, Pendley scored on an Error, Jaquish comes home on an RBI.

Following her emotional video, the top of the third Powers made a great shoestring catch at 1st. Pride scored four more runs in the bottom of the third and two in the bottom of the fourth to go on and win 14-0 over the Carolina Collegiate League. Burroughs pitched five innings giving up two hits and striking out 8 batters.
