Samantha Findlay Announces Retirement

USSSA Pride first baseman Samantha Findlay has announced her retirement from the NPF. Findlay retires a year after joining the USSSA Pride just before the 2011 NPF season.

I have decided that it is in my best interest at this time to retire. I plan on focusing on my career and finishing up my graduate school at DePaul.”

In her first and only year with the Pride Findlay batted .148 with 1 HR and 5 RBI. Findlay was a force to be reckoned with at the plate, bringing great power and a quick bat. A year removed from hitting 11 HR and 25 RBI in 2010 with the Bandits, the USSSA Pride were expecting nothing less than a great bounceback season for Findlay, but it seems she has other plans for her bright future.

Samantha had a few good words to say about her exit from the game of Fastpitch Softball:

I’d like to thank you the entire USSSA Pride family for the opportunity to play softball for your program as it is highly recognized as one of the BEST in the league. The game has given me so many incredible opportunities to do what I love to do. I am forever grateful at the endless opportunities that I have been given, more than I could have ever dreamed of. Thank you again for all that you do!
