FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Press Release) – Jun 14, 2012 –

Orlando, FL- Fastpitch softball fans in the Orlando area can unite in excitement with news that the National Pro Fastpitch League has announced the location change of the Kissimmee based, USSSA Florida Pride’s game on June 23rd from Fort Mill, SC. This game is now scheduled to take place right here in our own backyard at the NTC Softball Complex in Clermont, FL!

This exciting scheduled double header against Pride opponent the Carolina Diamonds will start at 1:00 PM ET and will also be airing LIVE on ESPN3. The games will be taking place on the 40th Anniversary of the signing of Title IX (June 23, 1972). For those unfamiliar with Title IX, it was is a portion of the Education Amendment made 1972 which brought equality for women in sports.

“The Pride and the Diamonds are playing each other in Florida on Thursday, June 21 which would have forced a quick turnaround in travel for both organizations. With the Title IX celebration on the 23rd, we wanted to be sure the players were adequately prepared for a full day of competition and acillary activities and it became clear that the best way to do that was to eliminate some of the travel. We regret the inconvenience this may cause to fans of the Carolina Diamonds, but we are looking forward to hosting this exciting day at the National Training Center in Clermont,” commented NPF Commissioner, Cheri Kempf.

Kelsey Bruder (Outfield) and Francesca Enea (Outfield), two members of the USSSA Florida Pride, will be playing in the home state of their alma mater: The University of Florida. Accompanying Bruder and Enea are several Olympians on the Pride Roster: Caitlin Lowe, Natasha Watley, Cat Osterman, Lauren Lappin, Kelly Kretschman, and Andrea Duran. The USSSA Florida Pride are the 2010 NPF Champions

This is definitely wonderful news for softball fans as the game of fastpitch continues to grow exponentially across the country.

General admission is just $5.00 for both games of the double header and can be purchased at the gate. Fans can get autographs from players from either team after the end of the second game.
