USSSA Pride Cruises Past Akron Racers, 13-2

Mansfield, TX – June 24, 2014 – The Akron Racers didn’t put up much of a fight on Tuesday, as the USSSA Pride cruised to a blowout 13-2 win in seven innings at Big League Dreams Park in Mansfield, TX.

The USSSA Pride scored four runs in the first on a two-run single by Andrea Duran, and a sacrifice fly by Kristyn Sandberg.

Natasha Watley reached base four times in the game for the USSSA Pride scoring three runs and picking up one RBI.

The Akron Racers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. A single by Kelley Montalvo plated Jill Barrett and Kailee Cuico.

However, the Akron Racers could not get anything going on the pitching staff of the USSSA Pride. Jordan Taylor held the Racers hitless over the next two innings, and Chelsea Thomas only allowed two runs over four innings of work. On her way to picking up the win, Thomas struck out six, walked five and gave up two hits.

Lisa Norris took the loss for the Akron Racers as she allowed six runs in three innings, walked four and struck out one.

The USSSA Pride increased its lead with two runs in the third by hits from Brejae Washington and Kelly Kretschman and never looked back on their way to a 13-2 defeat of the Akron Racers.

The Pride will take on the Chicago Bandits on June 26 – 28 at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, TX. First pitch is set for 8:00 pm ET, 7:00 pm CT.
