USSSA Pride Defeat Dallas Charge in Game One of Kansas City Series

Kansas City, KS-July 13th– The USSSA Florida Pride finished with a 6-3 win over the Dallas Charge Wednesday night in Kansas City to end their four game losing streak.

The Dallas Charge kicked things off in the first following three back-to-back singles by Gadbois, Davis, Lahners to load the bases. Haeger then brought in the first run of the ballgame with the fourth consecutive single down the right field line to score Gadbois and put the Charge up 1-0. Castillo then followed suit with a sacrifice fly to right that scored Davis to make it 2-0. Richardson extended the carnage with her own single that scored Lahners to give the Charge and early 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second, Sweet earned first following a hit by pitch. Courtney Ceo then earned herself a single that put two runners on with one out. Wiggins then moved Sweet and Ceo over to second and third on a fielder’s choice. With two outs, Kretschman hit a 2-run RBI single to score both runners for a 3-2 score.

In the bottom of the fifth, Kretschman tied the ballgame at three with a lead-off solo home-run over the right field fence.

The Pride took the lead in the bottom of the sixth after Shelby Pendley got hit by the pitch with bases loaded following singles from Sweet, Ceo and Kretschman. The Charge then decided on a pitching change that put Haeger in for Hawkins. Lauren Chamberlain then stepped up to the plate and scored two more for a 5-2 lead following a hard hit single up the middle.

Jordan Taylor shut things down for the Pride in the 7th and earned the Pride the 6-3 win. Starting pitcher Kelsey Nunley, was removed after two innings. Relief, Hannah Rogers pitched four innings, struck out three and kept the Charge to one hit.
