USSSA Pride defeat Team Canada, 2-1

Viera, FL (June 25, 2021)- Another great pitching performance by the USSSA Pride tonight only allowing one run from Team Canada. Megan Good took the mound in front of another large crowd here at Space Coast Stadium pitching five (+) innings striking out three batters over four hits and two walks.

Canada scored their only run in the top of the second. Kaleigh Rafter led off with a walk, then a single by Jennifer Gilbert and Rafter scoring on a fielder’s choice. Good pitched five stellar innings but ran into trouble in the sixth allowing the first two batters to get on. Aleshia Ocasio came in relief in the sixth with no outs and two on, striking out her first batter, getting an infield fly and a great play by Shay Knighten on a putout to end the inning. Canada threatened again in the top of the seventh, but Ocasio was able to pitch her way out of a jam.

The Pride answered Canada’s score in the bottom of the second tying the game. Sam Show led off the inning with a walk followed with a fielder’s choice by Jessie Warren. Chelsea Goodacre battled with a 10 pitch at bat dribbling the ball in front of the catcher, hustling down the line throwing the catchers view off and reaching on an Error allowing Warren to round the bases and score. The Pride scored their second run with Jessie Warren golfing one over the fence for her second homerun in two days.
