USSSA Pride fall short in game 1 of Evansville Series

The Pride began a 16 day, 12 game road trip throughout the Midwest in Evansville, IN, at historic Bosse Field, home of the Evansville Otters.  The Vipers came out of the gates hot with a solo homerun from Jocelyn Alo, off former Oklahoma Sooner teammate Hope Trautwein.  The Pride go down in the first with only a single from Chelsea Goodacre.

In the top of the second, the Pride defense leaves the bases, but not before allowing two more runs off of 2 walks and 3 hits, making the score 3-0 after an inning and a half.  On to the top of the 3rd, Trautwein is replaced by Sam Show in the circle.  In her two innings, Trautwein gave up 3 runs on 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out two.

The Vipers were about to add some insurance in the top of the 6th with a homerun from Mary Iakopo, the only run allowed by Show.  Show ends the night with 5 innings pitched, only giving up 3 hits, 1 run and 1 walk.  The Pride’s only run comes off the bat of Delanie Wisz, who had a solo homerun in the bottom of the 6th.  Making the final score 4-1 in favor of the Vipers.

The Pride and Vipers will face off again tomorrow July 13th at Bosse Field at 7:30 central.  As always, fan can catch the games on the road by watching them on usssalive.com.
