San Diego, CA– July 8, 2016-Renada Davis Kaylyn Castillo each homered and Lauren Haegar went 6.2 innings to lead the Dallas Charge to a 4-3 win over USSSA Pride on Friday, July 8 at Fowler Park.
The Charge played with the lead all game against the league-leaders as Castillo’s solo shot sailed deep over the left field wall in the top of the second. Dallas added another run in the third, and went up 4-1 on the two-run shot by Davis.
Haeger dominated, not allowing a hit until Kelly Kretschman hit a solo home run in the fourth. She finally ran into trouble in the sixth when the Pride loaded the bases with one out. Haeger walked one with the bases loaded and walked another, but escaped the jam by getting pinch hitter Amanda Kamekona to ground out to end the threat with the 4-3 lead.
Haeger finished the game with 6.2 innings pitched, allowing three hits, seven walks and three runs while striking out six. Jolene Henderson took the loss after being charged with all four runs in four innings of work. Morgan Melloh got the final out of the game to record the save.
Taylor Gadbois was 2-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Charge. She was the only player to record a multi-hit game.
These teams will meet again on Saturday, June 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Fowler Park to wrap-up their two-game series.
