USSSA Pride falls to Team USA in Game 3

USSSA Pride pitched well but still fell to Team USA, 3-0.

USSSA Pride found themselves down very early, as starting pitcher Samantha Show gave up 2 runs in the 1st, headlined by a Haylie McCleney home run. In the 2nd, Samantha Show got pulled for Jailyn Ford after her struggles continued. Jailyn Ford found herself with the bases loaded and one out but get out of the jam giving up no runs, a theme within the series. Ford found the bases loaded just one inning later in the 3rd and get out giving up no runs for the second time in the game. The game was dominated by pitching until the 7th, where Delaney Spaulding would open the inning with a solo home run to make it 3-0. Pride rallied in the bottom of the 7th, putting two runners on with no outs but ultimately fall to Team USA pitcher, Monica Abbott, who completed her full game shutout to end it 3-0.

Pitching dominated this game like others in the series, with Jailyn Ford and Monica Abbott in for almost the whole contest. Ford gave up no runs until the 7th where she gave up her only point of the game. Abbott continued to dominate in the series as she would record 14 strikeouts with only 4 hits. Monica Abbott and Cat Osterman seem to be the Pride’s kryptonite, as the two have shut out the Pride in 2 and a half games of play. Given that Osterman did not play in this game, it is safe to say she may start and try to complete the last game in the series. USSSA Pride will need to find a way to hit off her as they head into the final game of the series.
