USSSA Pride Head to FIU to Face Eagles and Charge

Viera, FL– July 6, 2017-The USSSA Pride are heading to Miami for a four-game series following their final game at USSSA Space Coast Stadium tonight.

The series begins July 7th with a Pride double header hosted at FIU baseball stadium at University Park. On July 8th, game one of the night’s double header will feature the Beijing Eagles and the Texas Charge followed by game two featuring the Charge and Pride. The series concludes on July 9th with a final match-up between the Texas Charge and USSSA. All games will be hosted at FIU Baseball Stadium in Miami, FL.

The Pride currently stand at the top of the league with a 15-3 record. In eighteen games, the Pride have scored 90 runs, with 21 home runs, 83 RBI and averaged a .450 slugging percentage. The Pride pitching staff has totaled 116 strikeouts and have averaged a 1.52 ERA.

This upcoming series in Houston marks the first time the Pride will face the Scrap Yard Dawgs following a regular season record of 6-4 versus the Dawgs in 2016.

While the Pride are in Miami they will be attending MLB Fan Fest at the Miami Beach Convention Center on July 8th and 9th. It will be the second time the Pride make an appearance at MLB Fan Fest.

Pride Players to Watch:

  • Kelly Kretschman: Kelly currently leads the league in batting average (.533), on-base percentage (.672) and slugging percentage (.956). She leads the Pride in hits (24), runs (15) batting average (.533), on-base percentage, slugging percentage and triples (2).
  • Sierra Romero: Is leading the Pride team in home runs (4), tied with Kelly Kretschman and Shelby Pendley, and leads the Pride in RBI (14). Romero is averaging a .382 on-base percentage with 11 hits, 8 runs scored and 3 doubles.
  • Kirsti Merritt: Kirsti is right behind hits-leader, Kretschman, with 15 hits and a .349 batting average and just behing Wiggins with 9 stolen bases. Merritt also has 12 runs, a .440 on-base percentage and a .442 slugging percentage.
  • Megan Wiggins:  Megan currently leads the team in stolen bases (10). She has 11 hits, 13 runs, 6 RBI, is hitting .224 and has an on-base percentage of .672.
  • Keilani Ricketts: Ricketts has struck out 36 batters and has an ERA of 1.01 with a 5-2 overall record.
