Viera, FL (July 23rd, 2021)- Tonight was Pediatric Cancer Night at Space Coast Stadium where the Pride players wore specialty jerseys being auctioned off on EBay with proceeds benefitting the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
The Pride was on the board first in the first game scoring one run in the second inning. Jessie Warren led the inning off with a double then driven in by a Chelsea Goodacre single to centerfield. The Florida Gulf Coast League tied up the game in the top of the third with a Rylie Boone Homerun. The Pride quickly answered scoring two in the bottom of the third inning. Sahvanna Jaquish doubled to left field followed by a Jessie Warren two run homerun putting the pride up 3-1 at the end of 3. FGCL scored one more run in the top of the third inning, but the Pride were able to score their fourth and final run of the game. Megan Good Pitched game one of the doubleheader going 4 1/3 innings pitched striking out 4 and giving up two runs. She ran into some trouble in the fifth giving up that one run and having runners on first and second. Aleisha Ocasio came in relief and was able to shut down FGCL for the 4-2 win.
Game two was a blow out with the Pride winning in a run rule 8-0. Odicci Alexander took the circle for game two and pitched 5 innings, striking out 6 batters giving up no runs on three hits. The Pride scored three runs in the first inning on all singles by Shelby Pendley, Sahvanna Jaquish and Shay Knighten. Pride then tacked on two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Alex Powers led off the inning with a walk then Haley Cruse singled to right advancing Powers. Cruse stole second base then Pendley singled to center driving in two. The Pride scored one run in the third inning then two runs in the bottom of the fourth with back-to-back homeruns by Megan Good and Jessie Warren.
